Rasha, is the CIO of USD 100 Million Investment Fund company. She has about 10 members in her team. She has finally received an approval from the management to scale up her team, as the company is expecting growth and also start of new services.

Rasha, is working with her HR team and a boutique consulting company to provide her with potential candidates.

However, she is struggling with a few challenges namely:

1. The team is planning to move to a new technology stack, and none of her current staff is an expert on this new technology stack. As such she is not sure, if they will be able to assess the technical qualities of these candidates. She does not want to risk hiring wrong candidates.
   1. The recent changes in the structure of team, has led to some mis-giving. And although she trusts her team, in the short run, she feels their judgement could be clouded!

Imagine you wanted to hire 3 new team members, on an average there would be at least two technical rounds. You would at least start with a pool of 25 candidates, shortlisted to 10, from which you would hopefully hire 3. So, let’s do the maths. Round 1 interview of at least 30 minutes for the initial list of shortlisted candidates, At least 30 minutes for coordinating the interviews, so a modest 1 hour per candidate. That is about 25 hours. A similar assumption for the second round, would be 10 hours. That’s about 35 hours, or roughly 5 days. Imagine how your team could use this time effectively, if they did not have to utilize this for a non-core activity.
